THE BASSONOVAS!:

The Bassonovas are spreading the beats of Brazilian Samba throughout Perth and are drumming up a storm!

They were first established in Feb 07, by the Town of Bassendean, with help from Samba Guru - Richy Glasgow  and current Musical Director Maria Daniels. Within 6 weeks, they did many percussion workshops at local primary schools, 6 public rehearsals, then a fantastic performance at the Bassendean Multicultural Food and Fireworks Festival! They were ON FIRE!!  After this, he gigs streamed in! Today (Apr 09) they have catered for a large variety of clients, offering percussion workshops and performances throughout Perth, giving a very professional and high quality standard! The Bassonovas cater for school fairs, fates, coprorate functions, festivals, parties - the lot! For more info, please surf our site and check out our pics!

TESTIMONIALS:

'Having been associated with the Bassonovas since their inception, this samba drumming group from Bassendean just keep on getting better and better! The Bassonovas put their heart and soul into everything they do. Their music is full of exuberance and energy, and they always look fantastic in their bright and colourful costumes, which adds to the excitement of their performance. The Bassonovas have performed at many of the Town of Bassendean's public events including the Australia Day Celebrations 2007, the Multicultural Food Festival & Fireworks 2007, NAIDOC 2007 & 2008 and they will be performing as part of the Bassendean Planet Earth Festival in Dec 08. As the Cultural Development Officer for the Town I have no hesitation in recommending the Bassonovas for any workshop or event to spice up festivities!' Jacqui Otago - Cultural Development Officer, Town of Bassendean 22/09/2008.

GIGS/PERFORMANCES:

PARTY! PARTY! PARTY! That's right folks! Let's bring your event to life with Samba! The pics on this site say it all! Performances can last up to 30 mins, for a group of 7 or more Bassonovas and we can be dressed either in our 'funny sparkle' costumes or something a bit more sober, like our RED Bassonovas Tee's and black pants. Either way, we are still LOUD, COLORFULWILD, OUTRAGOUS and a WHOLE heap of FUN!!

PERCUSSION WORKSHOPS:

Percussion workshops are available for schools, companies, community events and the general public. Workshops last from 1 to 1.5 hours and we cater for up to 40 people from the ages of 7 to 75. Best of all, absolutley NO EXPERIENCE is necessary and we provide ALL the instruments! These drumming sessions are simple and easy to follow. The music is based on traditional rhythms from Brazil (the most popular being Samba Reggae) and by the end of a session, we will have a fantastic orchestra of funky drum beats and samba sounds! Best of all, Anyone can do this as it's as easy as 1-2-3! All workshops participants can also participate in a performance or mini parade that is booked in addition to the workshop at your venue, along with the full Bassonovas drumming troop!

Music and drumming is very therapeutic! It's an ideal stress relief and a great opportunity to try something different! The philosophy and magic of samba, evolves and grows throughout the world... It joins people together with a joyful spirit! There's no experience like it! ...WARNING! - It's VERY addictive!! :-)

Maria Daniels (Bassonovas Musical Director)   "Samba has no limits! - Enjoy it!"

Hi all,

We want to expand this group with as many members as possible. The Bassonovas have moulded into one of the best groups I have ever worked with! Their friendliness, support, enthusiasm and musical abilities are just amazing and I am very proud to be their Musical Director!

'Sincere thanks' goes out to Richy Glasgow, who really made this all happen! With his 20+ years experience, we were very honored to have him kick start this project and now we are thriving! He never fails to offer help and guidance, even today! So 'Good on ya Rich!' ;-)

Finally, the Town of Bassendean have been fantastic! Thank you for ongoing support and sponsorship! I hope the Bassonovas continue for many years yet? They're a great community group who love every minute of it! I always say...'Samba has no limits no matter what size, shape or form! Its power can only grow...its life can only expand! Nurture it well and enjoy it while you can!'
